This is "free space" for now - with the understanding that you remember what we talked about today in class about using the wiki appropriately. Since the comments will only show the past 9-10 and so many of you are here and making comments already, I thought I could move some of them over here for easier reading! The newest questions are at the bottom!

EA-F2 asks: Miss Stewart, What is your favorite kind of cake?

Miss S answers: Spice cake with vanilla frosting is my favorite! I also like chocolate cake or yellow cake with chocolate frosting!

 

MC-S4 asks: Miss Stewart, You told us this in class, but you didn't give us the answer. Did you read all the Harry Potter books?? I have.

Miss S answers: I have! I enjoyed them. What about you?

MC-S4 follows up: I liked them. My favorite was probably the 6th or the 7th book. What was your favorite??

Miss S responds: I am not sure!  I really enjoyed all of them for different reasons! I did enjoy both the last two a lot, though.

 

KW-S23 asks: Miss Stewart, Do you like to go to IHOP for dinner???I do.If you do what food because i like their frech toast a lot.

Miss S answers:  I do like IHOP, but I usually only go there with my niece. She loves it! I like their French toast, their waffles, and their BLT sandwiches!

 

MC-S4 asks: Miss Stewart, Is Diet Coke your only favorite soda or do you like other ones?

Miss S answers: MC, I like Diet Coke the best (or D.C. with lime or cherry). I also like Diet Dr. Pepper and Root Beer. I will drink a regular Dr. Pepper every once in awhile, but not often!

 

KW-S23 asks: Miss Stewart, Do you know of the song " Jesus Take the Wheel" by:Carie Underwood???

Miss S responds: KW, I do know that song, and it's on my Ipod! I like it!

 

MW-K24 asks: Hi Miss.Stewart! On your favorite things you like you said that you liked country music. Who's your favorite country singer?

Miss S replies: MW, I have trouble choosing one favorite of anything! :-) But my favorite country music artists are probably Rascal Flatts, Martina McBride, and Kenny Chesney! I like most of them, though.

 

KW-S23 asks: Miss Stewart, When you have time to cook what do you like to prepair???I like to make deserts,red potateoes,ribs,steak and more.It depends what mood I am in.

Miss S answers: I like to make just about anything. I like to try out new recipes whenever I can.

 

KW-S23 asks: Miss Stewart, When you relax do you like to pamper your self by using lotion to softe your skin???Also do you like to paint your nails???

Miss S responds: KW, you have very creative questions. I don't paint my fingernails because they're short and don't grow long. I do love to paint my toenails, though. I have lots of lotion that I use to pamper myself. :-)

 

MW-K24 asks: Miss.Stewar why do you want to learn sign language?

Miss S replies: MW, the short answer to why I'd like to learn sign language is that it is such a beautiful language and would be interesting to learn. The long answer is that when I was growing up, the church my family attended had a huge deaf ministry and I would watch them signing the songs each week and then doing special performances, and I was always mesmerized by it. I do know a very little bit of it, but would like to be able to sign fluently someday.

 

WH-B11 asks: Are you still grading papers?? I want to be a teacher when i grow up but i just dont want to grade papers all day and every weekend!!! Is it fun or does it get boring? I would think that it would get boring but maybe its not to you or is it????

Miss S responds: Hi WH! I don't grade papers all day and every weekend, so have no fear! :-) I do have a lot of it to do this weekend, but it is only because I have let it stack up because I have been busy doing other things. When I have a lot to do, though, I will mix it up by stopping to do something else for awhile. I think you'd be a fabulous teacher!

WH-B11 follows up: Hey everyone!!! Miss Stewart do you like being a teacher because i want to be that when i grow up!!!!! Is it fun??

Miss S's reply: It is FABULOUS, WH! Being a teacher is really wonderful. I cannot imagine doing anything else and enjoying it as much as I do teaching. There are stressful or bad days sometimes, but that is part of life regardless of what you do.  Being with each of you from 7:45-2:55 every day puts a smile on my face and laughter in my heart!

 

EA-F2 asks: Miss Stewart what is an idea for a page? I want to make one but I dont know what it should be on.

Miss S replies: EA, OK here are some ideas off the top of my head. I will keep thinking in case you don't like any of these:

1. Current Events - student-written (by you or the grade level, whatever you want) news stories about current events - you could choose local Allen news, Texas news, national news, or world news. You could do all, but if you picked one, that would leave the others for other students.

2. A "Who's Who" in history page - do a quick research on a person of interest in history and write a short bio of them (who they were, when they lived, what they did/are doing to affect U.S. History, something interesting about them, etc.)

3. A "Focus on Grammar" page where you can give tips and pointers on using good grammar skills. (capitalization, spelling, punctuation, or whatever part of speech or grammar skill we're studying in class)

4. Writing Mistakes Scavenger Hunt ... a place for you or other students to contribute examples of mistakes they've found in writing (spelling, grammar, etc.) in the real world such as newspapers, TV, signs, and such. Students could tell where it is or when they saw it, what the mistake is, and why it's incorrect. For example, I could say: I was driving down Central Expressway and noticed that the "Toys R Us" sign uses only a backwards R for the middle word. Really, it should be spelled "Toys Are Us."
